The Amethiya is a sub-clan of the Gaur Rajputs. The name of the sub-clan is derived from Amethi, a town in Mohanlalganj.
Historically, the Amethiya clan had two principal seats:
- Kumharwan in Rae Bareli
- Unsari in Bara Banki
One recorded Amethiya taluqdār was Prithpal Singh of Ramnagar.
His estate consisted of eight villages and one patti in Bara Banki.
The Amethiya Gaur Rajputs are mainly found in the districts of Rae Bareli, Bara Banki, and Gorakhpur in present-day Uttar Pradesh.
